Pitso Mosimane steer Al Ahly to secure a third place in FIFA Club World Cup, 4 goals thriller saw Ahly claim bronze.
Al Ahly met Monterrey in their first FIFA Club World Cup match, they secured a 1-0 victory through a goal scored by Hany. The victory saw them advancing to semi-finals.
Ahly met the Brazilian side, Palmeiras, in the semi-finals. The much anticipated match saw Red Devils struggle to defeat Palmeiras.
Palmeiras took a lead on the 39th minute through Viega’s goal, and the first half ended 1-0. Within 4 minutes into the second half, Palmeiras made it 2-0 through Dudu.
Al Ahly efforts to find equalizers were in vain, they could not find the back of the net. Sherif tried to secure a goal for his side, but it was ruled an offside by VAR. Palmeiras’ 2-0 victory ended Al Ahly’s dream of clinching the title.
The Red Devils were left with no choice but to fight for a third place in the competition. Ahly met Al-Hilal and it was a walk in a park for them. Pitso’s side defeated Al-Hilal 4-0 to claim bronze.
Fathi, El Hanafi, Abdel Kader and Al-Sulaya made it into Ahly’s score sheet on Saturday. The Red Devils claimed bronze in two consecutive years. Pitso Mosimane’s success is undoubtedly astonishing.
